Fibre Broadband Available In Woburn Sands
Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) broadband is now available in a limited number of areas in Wavendon and Woburn Sands. Further areas will be activated in the next few months. A BT press release announcing the activation has been issued. More information as we have it. |

BT demonstrates 10Gbps XGPON in Cornwall
BT Openreach has demonstrated 10Gbps XGPON as an overlay to the existing FTTP GPON network in Cornwall. More information can be found at MK BAG anticipates around 20,000 homes in MK will be capable of being connected to BT's FTTP network by early 2013 with 95+% of properties and businesses in urban Milton Keynes having have FTTP connectivity as an option via BT's FTTP on demand product by 2014. BT is likely to trial the 10Gbps in 2013/2014 in an urban area such as MK. The v3 article also includes statement from an executive in BT which suggests BT have completely scrapped plans to use LTE as infill within Cornwall and will instead focus on satellite solutions. BT retail to offer 160Mbps down 20Mbps up FTTP
BT retail's site is now offering consumers who are within the footprint of BT's fibre to the premises (FTTP) network a new package. It appears the current FTTP 110Mbps down 15Mbps up package has been changed to ultra fast 160Mbps down 20 Mbps up. This brings BT's FTTP offering more in line with that of Virgin Media. Woburn Sands Exchange ADSL Upgraded
Woburn Sands phone exchange is now offering 21CN WBC (Wholesale Broadband Connect). This upgrade is significant and means that Woburn Sands is now connected to BT's new IP network and is one of the key steps towards the Exchange being fibre capable. This gives residence in Woburn Sands, Wavendon and Wavendon Gate access to a greater number of service provides utilising ADSL2+ upto 20Mbps technology. It appears this upgrade has been delivered earlier than anticipated. MK BAG understand from sources within BT that work on implimentation of FTTC and FTTP to areas in Woburn Sands, Wavendon and Wavendon Gate will commence very shortly and is scheduled to be available to large numbers of consumers by March 2013. However, residence in Wavendon and Wavendon Gate who are some considerable distance from the Exchange are unlikely to notice any improvement in their broadband service. |
BT begins fibre broadband deployment in Wavendon Gate UPDATE
More information as and when we have it. UPDATE August 2012 We now have confirmation that all properties in Wavendon Gate should have fibre broadband by March 2013. Most properties will received fibre broadband using fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) technology. However, houses off Gregories Drive will be connected using fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology. 21CN ADSL 2 will be available for all home on the Woburn Sands Exchange from 1st October.
